According to recent studies, the average Canadian is leading a more sedentary lifestyle today than ever before. More hours are now spent in the workplace and much of our entertainment requires little more participation than sitting in a chair.
Our obesity rates continue to rise, and many consumers seem to favour quick and convenient processed and packaged foods over healthier options.
While many of us continue to do what is easy or familiar rather than what we know is good for us, there is growth in the organic food movement and a shift to thinking of our health in more holistic terms.
Making conscious health and nutritional choices based on intuitive guidance and trusted information allows for a radical life transformation.

Are you listening to your body?

Once we begin to develop a relationship with our inner radiance, we are then better able to listen to the true needs and desires of our body. We notice what our body requires in the moment. We are more aware of whether or not the food we are eating is giving us energy and sustaining us through our day, or whether there is something missing that we can incorporate.
Are we eating foods that make our entire being vibrate with happiness? Do we need more exercise, or more rest and a decent night's sleep? Are we properly hydrated?
There are many books written on health and nutrition and a multitude of different diets and plans promising many changes if followed. While it’s important to be properly educated and know the fundamentals of nutrition, ultimately YOU are the one who knows yourself and your body best.

Transition

When we detox or transition to a purer diet, physical symptoms may be present and represent a normal part of the detoxification process. Suppressed emotions often arise, and this can be unexpected and feel overwhelming or frightening. We may have been out of touch with our feelings and emotions for many years, and some of us have used unhealthy foods or eating habits to stuff and or avoid these feelings and emotions. At these times it is important to have someone we trust who can help us move through whatever we are experiencing.
Having been through my own process of transition, I know the importance of counselling at these important junctures. You may also wish to look more specifically at your food and lifestyle choices in a Conscious Eating Consultation.
Although I place a lot of focus on relationships with food, I am not trained to deal with the specifics or physical ailments of eating disorders. I am open to discussing these and related issues, but I do not profess to offer medical advice or treatment. If you require further assistance I would be pleased to offer referrals or suggestions.
